DR. ARTHUR BACON

His works of art have been exhibited in many cities including Atlanta, New York, Berkeley, Birmingham, and Washington D.C. Dr. Bacon’s subjects of choice are usually older and neglected people whose experiences show in their faces. His original works were mostly completed with ink washes and lines with very little color.  His minimalist approach was inspired by the idea that color interfered with his expression of feelings. In more recent works Dr. Bacon has used color, acrylics, different media, and varied techniques to convey his work. Visit Dr. Bacon’s Website

Dr. Bacon still has many deep ties to this community. When in high school, a young Art Bacon was mentored by S. Bruce McDonald at Roosevelt High School.  While on staff at Talladega College he taught this event’s chairperson, Dr. Khalil Moses.  The list of those in our community who recognize Dr. Bacons skills and accomplishments is impressive and Artists Showcase would like to give young and old the opportunity to learn more and appreciate this great man.

MARK MANNING

Mark Manning is a graduate of Howard University in Washington D.C. where he received his undergraduate degree in Graphic  Design. He continued his education at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York pursuing graduate work in Industrial Design.

After working in New York for a number of years, Mark (a native of Florida) is currently living in West Palm Beach where he continues to develop his art. Although he works in various mediums, he concentrates in ceramics, pen and ink drawings, and sculpture (wood, metal & stone).

CRYSTAL BACCHUS

Crystal Bacchus has been mesmerized by color since childhood. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, she moved to Trinidad with her family when she was 10 and started studying design at the age of 11. By 13, she was producing artwork with a distinctive, sophisticated look. Even then, her work provided clear evidence of the strong influence that fashion has had on her since early childhood, when she looked on with fascination as her mother created an ever-blossoming array of stylish outfits. That visual experience awakened in Crystal the love of richly colored, elegantly patterned fabric that is so evident in many of the designs on this website. Recognizing her talent, Crystal’s father urged her to enroll in art school, and Crystal took his good advice. CARON BOWMAN

Caron Bowman is a multi-disciplined artist and her work uses a diverse spectrum of mediums. She has been profiled by fashion photographer Nick Knight’s -SHOWstudio, Smithsonian American Latino Museum and Beck’s Greenbox Series. This year, she was a featured artist in the Wynwood Miami Mix Art Fair, Art Palm Beach satellite Continuum Art Fair.  She was selected by Bombay Sapphire Corporation /Russell and Danny Simmons’ Rush Philanthropic Art Foundation to be included in the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. Rapper Kendrick Lamar in association with Creative Allies showcased her artwork in NYC at the Galapagos Art Space. Her artwork has received international recognition and has been on display in various museums and galleries in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Caron’s work gives the observer an active role in the process,  encouraging them to participate and delve further into self-reflection and the mind’s potential.  For purchase inquiry of original artwork please contact Gallery Guichard. She uses the term SoFlo Superflat to describe the genre. It is an urban pop art movement  that combines super-bright colors and ultra flat images. The subject matters are very diverse.   Artist working in this style  emphasize outlines and flat areas of color. What is important is the feeling of flatness.
