History of Artists (Showcase) Workshop

Dr. Catherine Lowe, who recognized the need for venues to showcase multicultural artists of color and their talents, founded “Artists Showcase of the Palm Beaches” in 1989.  Artists Showcase has since emerged as one of South Florida’s leading supporters, promoters, and exhibitors of emerging, multicultural, diverse artists throughout the country and abroad.

Serving an annual audience of more than 10,000 adults and children, Artists Showcase programs have become an intricate part of South Florida’s art community.

In keeping with its tradition, Artists Showcase plans to continue to serve as as a catalyst for the promotion of multicultural and ethnic artists and the appreciation of visual and performing art.

Artists Showcase of the Palm Beaches Mission Statement

Artists Showcase provides underserved youth encouragement, education, exposure & life enrichment through arts and culture; while displaying the creative works of ethnic and multicultural artists for the enjoyment of everyone.

From its base in the Historic Jenkins House, Artists Showcase of the Palm Beaches strives to meet the needs of underserved youth by introducing them to arts and culture. In educating and inspiring youth on the richness of human excellence and creative expression through the arts, we empower them with crucial life skills that not only enhance their personal lives but also build a stronger community.

Numerous studies all point to the benefits of arts in education.  A recent report from Americans for the Arts states among its findings:  “Arts education has a tremendous impact on the developmental growth of every child and has proven to help level the “learning field” across socio-economic boundaries.”
